AN uninsured driver filled up his petrol tank and drove off without paying - on SIX occasions in a month.

Dominic Dylan Clifford's dishonesty has now caught up with him and he faces a fuel bill of £370.04 after a court ordered him to pay compensation to his victims.

Clifford, 22, of Billetfield, Taunton, targeted five petrol outlets in the town between July 20 and August 20 this year and one in Minehead on August 19.

He was also stopped in Taunton by police for driving without insurance on July 25 and 28 on Wellington New Road and Priory Bridge Road respectively.

Clifford was handed a community order at Taunton Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to all eight offences.

As well as being ordered to pay a total of £372.04 compensation for the six 'bilking' offences, he was told to pay a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

He was also fined a total of £422 for the two counts of driving without insurance and banned from driving for six months.

In all he must pay a £969.04 in fines and costs.
