A CHURCH in Bridgwater will be collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas next week.

Alive Christian Ministries, based in Salmon Parade in Bridgwater, will be one of 1,100 drop-off locations in the UK for Operation Christmas Child's National Collection Week.

Bridgwater families, church members and community groups are being asked to transform empty shoeboxes into gifts of hope filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items to drop off on Monday, November 11 to Monday, November 18.

The Samaritan’s Purse project partners with local churches across the globe to deliver these parcels to children in need.

“I love being able to see the local community rally together for a global purpose,” said Bridgwater volunteer Darren Hill, who has participated in Operation Christmas Child for five years.

“We see all ages getting involved – and more and more every year."

Alive Christian Ministries is based at 58 Salmon Parade, Bridgwater, TA6 5JT, and will be open for drop-offs 10am to 4pm from Monday, November 11 to Monday, November 18, except Sunday, November 17, which will be 1pm to 4pm.
