A MAN has come forward after an alert was issued by a school in Bridgwater about a child being approached by a stranger.
The incident happened just before 8am on Tuesday, November 5.
A 12-year-old girl told the school a man in a car approached her and school staff contacted police just before 2pm.
A post about the incident on social media warning of an 'attempted child abduction' was shared more than 1,000 times.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A man - the father of another pupil - has since been in touch with the school, police and the girl's parents.
"Officers have spoken to all parties and have found no evidence of an offence.
"Neighbourhood officers patrolled around the school at home time to offer reassurance to parents over the incident."
