Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after the woman was sexually assaulted near to the Angel Place shopping centre on November 2.

The woman, who is in her twenties, was walking along Castle Moat at around 10pm, opposite The Great Escape pub.

Then, a man ran up to her and sexually assaulted her.

A spokesman for the police said: "While we don’t have a description of the offender, the victim describes the street as being busy with people at the time at the conclusion of the town's carnival, so we’re appealing for anyone who saw this incident to come forward."

Tens of thousands of people attended the 2019 edition of the Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.

Many of these stayed out afterwards, and it is hoped someone is able to identify the alleged perpetrator.
