LAST night's spectacular Taunton Carnival was packed with action.

The weather stayed dry as thousands of people lined the streets to watch the procession, complete with amazing floats, dancing majorettes, various community group performances and a great carnival atmosphere.

The results are in with Generations CC winning the Taunton Licensed Victuallers Jubilee Cup for their entry Ghouls Graveyard.

The John Davey Award for the Float with the Best Costumes went to Butterfly Ball by Gemini CC, which also won the the TMC Trophy for Best Lorry Build Up and the Somerwest Rose Bowl for best Tableau Float.

Harelquins CC's Ironworks came away with the Jack Shute Memorial Cup chosen by Miss Taunton, and the Taunton Hospital Cup for Best Feature.

The Edwards Cup for Best Comic Cart went to Nunsford Nutters for their float What's Cooking.

The Ken Gamblin Memorial Cup for Best Costume On Foot went to Friends CC's Rhinestone Cowboy, the Taunton Cider Cup for Best Youth Tableau/Feature was won by Heroes 4 Hire by Juniors Reloaded CC and the Silver Street Motors Trophy for Best Single Walking entry went to Spirit CC for Crafts.

The Merriott Majorettes won their category, while Xtreme CC won the Tesco Cup for best walking entry.
