A HORSE has been rescued from a water-filled ditch near Bridgwater this morning after being stuck for eight hours.
The specialist animal rescue team from Bridgwater joined Glastonbury firefighters at the scene on Burtle Road in Burtle at 10am this morning (Saturday, October 19).
On arrival, crews confirmed the owner was there with the horse and a vet had been contacted.
Once the special rescue team were on scene, crews donned water safety kit to attempt a rescue.
Animal rescue equipment including strops were used, and crews assisted the horse from the ditch.
The horse was left in the safe care of the vet and the owner.
