RESIDENTS in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge are helping students at The King Alfred School Academy expand their scope of reading by donating books to a new ‘Book Tree’.
The books donated by the community include classics like ‘Lord of the Flies’ and new books like ‘Touching The Void’ and allow students to choose fiction books suitable for teenagers.
Becky Hewlitt, an English Teacher at The King Alfred School, said: “With the help of lots of wonderful donations from the community it has been lovely to see children enjoying free books.
“All pupils are welcome to come along and help themselves to a book to keep. There are plenty to suit all interests and ages.
“If you have any fiction suitable for teenagers then please bring them to student reception – they will be much loved and appreciated.”
