A MAN who lost his car for a week after parking it near a hospital has been reunited with it - after a 'hero' went to look for it while waiting for a pizza.

Anthony Holliday couldn't find the silver Ford Galaxy people carrier after he had an operation at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

He was told the effects of the anaesthetic meant he wouldn't be able to drive home so got a taxi back 50 miles to his house in Bridgwater in Somerset.

But when he went back to the area where he parked up, he couldn't remember exactly where it was - and couldn't find it during a couple of visits back to the city.

His family put out an appeal which was read by Gari Alongi - who was told his wait for a takeaway pizza would be 25 minutes.

He realised the car was lost somewhere in the area on the walk to the takeaway and went for a stroll - and found it.

Gari said: '"I saw the appeal, and thought 'I'm going down that way to get a pizza later'

When they said the pizza would be 25 minutes, I thought I may as well have a look.

''I got back in my car, drove up the hill off Gloucester Road and I found the car on about the sixth street I drove down.

''It was a lot further away from the hospital than I think he realised.

"The roads around there all look the same and the road layout is disorientating, I can see how this happened.

"I took a picture of it and sent it to Liam, and he was quite emotional.

"Amazingly, considering it had been there a week on a street with parking meters, it didn't have any parking tickets and wasn't clamped, just very steamed up windows.'' Mr Holliday said: "I am just so deeply grateful. I thanked him profusely. It was a lot further away than I thought it was, but everything is great now.''
