A PLAY area is set to be revamped with improvements costing more than £26,000.

The play park at Manse Lane, Puriton, is set for improvements costing £26,950 after Sedgemoor District Council secured 'developer contributions'.

Scott Mason, parks development team leader, said: “Basket swings are great for users of all ages and can hold multiple people at any one time, increasing the play value available.

"A flat swing is a traditional junior swing which always proves popular in any play area.

"The new climbing frame will have higher platforms than the existing one and be more challenging than the existing unit, which will remain.

"The elephant springer which has reached the end of its serviceable life will be replaced with a roundabout."

The current play area is enjoyed by younger children and consists of a climbing frame, springer and toddler swings.

Works are expected to begin week commencing Monday November 4 and last approximately two weeks, subject to favourable weather conditions.
