THE guest speaker at Bridgwater and District's Civic Society's October meeting is Bridgwater town clerk David Mears.
David has already made a strong impression in his civic role, stepping into the shoes of his well-known predecessor Alan Hurford.
David will be speaking about his own ideas about the town's present state and future development, as well as summarising the responsibilities and duties of the Town Council itself.
Dave Chapple. BDCS chairman said: "Bridgwater is in the middle of a challenging time of great change, not all for the good.
"Who better to stimulate the essential ongoing debate about how we make our much-loved town a better place for all, than our enthusiastic town clerk?"
The meeting is on Wednesday, October 9 at 7.30pm in the Victoria Park Community Centre. BDCS members free, visitors £3.
