Eight lucky Bridgwater neighbours started their weekend with a welcome boost after winning an incredible £240,000 between them, thanks to playing People’s Postcode Lottery.

Each of the Rosevean Close winners scooped £30,000 thanks to their postcode, TA6 4EU, being announced as a winner on Friday, September 27.

One of the winners was local chef, 50-year-old Andrew Lockyer, who is planning to help his sister build a sheep shed after their father, a local farmer, passed away four years ago.

He said: “My dad used to own a farm here in Somerset but since he passed away parts of the land have been sold.

"My sister still looks after sheep and has had to rent land elsewhere which has been quite tough.

“She’s one of the nicest people I know so to make her life easier, I’m going to give her money to build her own sheep shed.

"I also used to work in Bermuda but moved back in 1999 so I’m hoping to use the rest of the money to treat myself to a holiday.

“I’m so happy I started playing People’s Postcode Lottery."

Valerie Schirnohofer, 69, was another lucky winner that scooped £30,000 in the draw.

She said: “What a lovely surprise to have the team turn up at my door - it was totally out of the blue.

“I really enjoy playing as it’s nice to know local charities are benefitting, as well as us players.

"I don’t know what I’m going to spend the money on yet, but it will definitely give a great boost to the savings!”

The prize is part of People’s Postcode Lottery’s special campaign where every day in September’s draws, players in one lucky postcode will win £30,000 per ticket, with a minimum of £17 million being won in this month’s draws alone.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Danyl Johnson, presented the eight winners with their cheques. He said: “What an amazing group of people we got to meet in Bridgwater.

"There was a real buzz on the street as we headed along to present each neighbour with their cheques. It was also very exciting to hear how they all plan to spend their cash.”

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise more than £474 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
