A POPULAR East Huntspill wildlife charity is throwing an auction and ball in a bid to raise funds so they can continue to rescue animals.

Staff at Secret World Wildlife Rescue will be hosting an African themed bash called ‘Out of Africa’ at the Webbington Hotel, in Loxton on October 5 and they are asking guests to dress up in colourful outfits.

Visitors will be treated to a three course meal, live music and a casino and will have the chance to buy 10 amazing items at a charity auction.

A spokesman for the charity said: “The atmosphere will be as if you are in Africa.

“You’ll arrive ‘under canvas’ with a Masai warrior guarding the entrance to the silent auction where over a 100 auction items will be on view.

“Keep an eye out for the elephant – we don’t want you trampled.

“A three course meal is followed by a main auction of 10 amazing items including five signed children’s books by David Walliams.

“There is live music and casino. It’s a full evening from 6.30pm to1 am.

“You can dress to impress or fancy dress. We would love to see you there.”

The annual charity ball, which was originally started by Secret World’s founder, Pauline Kidner, aims to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

The rescue charity is funded by donations from the public and rescues and releases more than 5,000 animals each year.

Tickets cost £45 each and can be purchased by calling 01278 783250.
