A PLASTIC-FREE shop has doubled in size just four months after opening.

REco Store, a zero-waste business, opened up in a converted storage container in Tiptree in April.

The store is run by friends Susie Falco and Elise Clitheroe and sells environmentally-friendly household cleaning products, beauty products, dried foods and degradable bin bags.

The success of the business has meant the pair have had to double the size of the shop based in Tower Business Park.

Elise said: "The last four months have been a whirlwind. "We have been overwhelmed by the support and we wanted to offer more products to our customers so that they can now get the majority of their dried foods and household items all plastic and package free."

Since opening the store has expanded to stock stainless steel lunch boxes, water bottles and more food lines.

To mark the store expansion the team invited Ollie Walker, aged six, to officially open the shop.

Earls Colne Primary School pupil Ollie has his own Facebook page promoting his eco-friendly work.

Susie said: "Ollie is such an inspirational young man, we couldn’t think of anyone better to come along and endorse our bigger shop, particularly because many of our biggest fans are the younger generation bringing their parents along to show them how to change their shopping habits."

Since it opened the shop has sold more than 2,600 litres of household cleaning products from washing up liquid to fabric softener.

The duo believes this means 2,000 plastic bottles have been stopped from going to landfill.
