CHARD RFC begin their 2019/20 Western Counties West campaign at home to Wellington on Saturday.

Chard will be hoping to really consolidate their position in the division as an absolute minimum requirement.

Bonus points and more success on the road will be crucial - last season proved how useful bonus points can be at the top and bottom of the league.

In their fight against relegation, a Chard try in the last minute at Wadebridge in the penultimate game of the season gave them a vital bonus point which effectively saved them from the drop.

Chard failed to win any games away from Essex Close last season, not through any lack of effort, but in this division many of the teams are certainly stronger at home than they are away so it is vital that availability for away games improves.

With attendance at training being very good the omens are looking promising for the season.

Kick-off on Saturday is at 3pm and, with a large crowd expected, supporters should try and arrive in plenty of time.
