IT was this week in 2009 that Bridgwater’s beloved Sedgemoor Splash shut it doors for good.
There were protests in the town centre and even a sit-in with campaigners dressed in their swimming gear from Friday afternoon until midday on the Saturday.
It took an injunction from Bristol Magistrates’ Court to force the remaining protesters to leave but they returned for one last hurrah on Sunday shortly before the pool closed for good.
Splash manager Sue Duddridge, who had worked at the pool since it opened, was struggling to hold back the tears as it closed.
