A JILTED boyfriend went on a wrecking spree at his ex-partner's home in which he flooded the kitchen and poured her make-up down the sink.

Luke Hawkes went to one of his former partner's home in Bridgwater while she was out at a party and used a broom handle to smash the television and attack kitchen fittings.

He left the taps in the kitchen running, causing a flood, and threw items of her clothing into the water.

Police were called because a neighbour saw Hawkes going into the house at around 3am armed with a broom handle.

He went on to smash up another partner's home after accusing her of being unfaithful to him.

He threw her phone so hard at a wall that it smashed and left a dent in the plaster.

He also attacked the front door of a third house with a wheel brace during a row over money, Exeter Crown Court was told.

Hawkes, aged 25, of Wadham Close, Bridgwater, admitted two counts of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was sent on a Building Better Relationships course, ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work and 30 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £825.78 compensation and £285 costs by Judge Timothy Rose.

He told him:"You have a significant problem with relationships and your attitudes towards female partners. You have a long and depressing history of domestic violence.

"You are the common denominator in all these matters. You have behaved in a bullying fashion, accusing partners of infidelity, demanding their phones and using violence or causing damage if you don't get your own way.

"You have to understand the time has come when you must change your behaviour and your domineering and controlling outlook."

The judge made a restraining order banning any contact with his former partner for two years and prohibiting him from going to her and her family's addresses at Dukes Mead and Marina Row in Bridgwater.

Herc Ashworth, prosecuting, said Hawkes went to his former partner's house in the early hours of September 1ast year and let himself in the front door while the house was empty.

He said:"A neighbour saw his shadow moving around inside and he came out five minutes later. The police arrived and the victim returned the following morning.

"The television had been pushed to the floor, along with the cabinet. The taps in both sinks had been left on which caused the kitchen floor to be covered in water. There was clothing thrown on the floor and make up had been emptied into the sink."

Hawkes went on to cause damage at the home of another partner during an argument in March this year in which he called her a 'whore' and accused her of seeing other men.

He damaged a cooker and kitchen window and demanded to see her phone. He threw it at a wall in a rage.

Nikki Coombe, defending, said Hawkes has already spent eight months in prison while awaiting sentence.
