A 17-YEAR-OLD girl from Bridgwater has died on holiday with her family in Tenerife.
The girl, named locally as Leah Wilson passed away in a ‘tragic accident’ on Monday, August 12.
A fundraising campaign was launched to try and help the family raise £10,000 to pay for Miss Wilson’s body to be brought back to the UK.
Less than 48 hours after the appeal was launched more than £11,000 was donated.
A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “We are supporting the family of a young British woman who has died in Tenerife, and are in touch with the Spanish authorities.”
Leah’s sister Kayleigh posted a heartfelt tribute describing her as ‘beautiful, funny, loud, intelligent and crazy’.
She also posted to thank everyone who donated to help the family.
“We just wanted to write a post to thank each person that has donated to the page to get Leah home.
“We are so grateful and words can’t describe how much it means to us all.
“Leah should be home with us all soon.”
