A DEAD cow became stuck in the River Parrett near the Town Bridge in the centre of Bridgwater yesterday (Tuesday, August 13).
Clearing waste in the river such as bicycles and shopping trolleys from the river has long been a bone of contention and this latest incident has shed further light on the matter.
Bridgwater councillor Leigh Redman tweeted that the cow had become lodged among shopping trolleys at low tide.
He tweeted: "Sedgemoor District Council say it is not their problem, The Environment Agency say it is not their problem and Somerset County Council say it is the responsibility of the other two."
Sedgemoor District Council, Somerset County Council and The Environment Agency have been approached for a comment.
