A NEW play park in Bridgwater was scrawled with childish graffiti by mindless vandals.

However Sedgemoor District Council's Clean Surroundings acted swiftly and has already been down and scrubbed the play equipment clean at Meadowlands Avenue Play Park.

The graffiti sparked an outcry of frustration after images were posted on social media earlier today (Monday, August 12), however in the time since the offending markings have been removed.

The new toddler play area opened recently and was funded by money from the Hinkley C Community Impact Mitigation Fund, developer contributions and Sedgemoor's parks development budget.

The new toddler play area consists of two trampolines, varying swings, a roundabout, large climbing frame, see-saw, springers, talk tubes and play panels will be provided all within an enclosed playground fence at the public open space located at Meadowlands Avenue.

The Picnic in the Park event scheduled for Thursday, August 15 at 3pm at Meadowlands Avenue play park will go ahead as planned.
