THE grandson of one of this country's greatest novelists is standing for the Brexit Party in Bridgwater and West Somerset in the next General Election.
Writer Alexander Waugh, who was educated at Taunton School and lives in Milverton, is understood to be among the candidates set to fight the poll announced by the party today.
His grandfather, Evelyn Waugh, who lived in Combe Florey, near Bishops Lydeard, wrote such classics as Brideshead Revisited, Decline and Fall and Vile Bodies.
Alexander's father was Auberon Waugh was also a prolific writer, contributing articles for Private Eye.
