A KESTREL was rescued by Secret World after a couple raised concerns for its welfare.
Secret World were called to Cothelstone by the couple who had observed the kestrel for two or three days looking lethargic, unable to gain height and not straying far from their house.
They wondered if its beak was damaged as it kept brushing at it with one of its talons.
When Graeme Thompson, a volunteer response driver for Secret World arrived it was nowhere to be seen.
A lengthy search ensued until finally it appeared perched on the fence post where the couple had regularly observed it.
Graeme apprehended the kestrel and warned the couple that it could be euthanised if the beak had been unrepairable.
But when Katie Gibbs, animal carer, examined it she found no serious damage.
A sticky substance on the bird’s beak was cleaned off and some ticks around its eyes were removed.
The young bird was emaciated and weak and is now recovering at Secret World.
