BRIDGWATER’S annual twinning week is upon us once again.

Hosted by Bridgwater Town Council, International Friendship Week will run from July 13 to 19.

As part of the celebrations there will be a week long exhibition in Bridgwater Library, and a new twinning finger post will be planted on Cornhill pointing the way to each of Bridgwater’s six international partners.

The week culminates in a twinning party at Bridgwater Arts Centre on Friday, July 19 where Italian rock band The Loreans will be playing.

The event at the Arts Centre starts at 7.30pm and features lively presentations with photos and videos from all six of Bridgwater’s twin towns - La Ciotat in France, Homberg in Germany, Uherske Hradiste in the Czech Republic, Marsa in Malta, Priverno in Italy and the most recent addition, Camacha on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

The Loreans are known for playing a brand of highly danceable surf rock music, and they will be supported by the Dave the Milkman Big Band.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased from Bridgwater Arts Centre or from the Twinning Groups.

Bridgwater Town Council is also sponsoring the Bridgwater Quayside Festival where more than 100 performers will be present across 10 venues in the town on Saturday, July 20.
