CONSTRUCTION work will start soon on a 72-apartment retirement block beside the River Tone, in Taunton.

Churchill Retirement Living is building the development at Tangier Way, on the site of a former Lidl store, which closed in December 2015.

Taunton people are being invited to enter a competition to name the development of one and two-bedroom flats - with the winner picking up a £100 prize - Churchill development names always end in 'Lodge'.

The competition closes on July 31 and the winner will be invited to the scheme's opening when the first owners move in.

The winning name will appear on the development and in marketing literature.

Jo Ridehalgh, Churchill's regional marketing executive, said the privately-owned apartments will provide "attractive, high quality, secure, self-contained accommodation in landscaped grounds.

She added: "We’re delighted to be bringing our new development to Taunton and have seen lots of interest from local over 60s keen to find out more about the benefits of the retirement living lifestyle.

"Anyone interested in finding out more about what this new development has to offer can register their interest now for updates, and be among the first to find out when the apartments will be released for sale.

To enter the competition, send your suggested name and why with your name, address and phone number to Jo Ridehalgh, Taunton Naming Competition, FREEPOST, Churchill Retirement Living or e-mail jo.ridehalgh@crl.co.uk
