THE second litter pick from climate campaign ‘Plastic Free Chard’ is set to be held next month.

The event, organised with Surfers Against Sewage, enjoyed an inaugural success on Good Friday, and is now back in the town.

The litter pick will run from 10am until noon on July 20.

Volunteers will be setting off from the town’s various ‘welcome to’ signs.

They will then head towards the Lace Mill car park, meeting by Chard Library at midday.

Surfers Against Sewage already works with over 460 communities, including neighbouring towns of Axminster and Yeovil.

At April’s event, the team filled 13 large sacks of rubbish in just two hours.

They also picked up an an oil drum and several pieces of metal.

The event is part of Chard Town Council’s bid to be plastic free.

The Guildhall itself is already plastic free.
