COMBWICH residents were drawing up a battle plan in 1999 to save a village pub.
More than 100 people signed a petition against plans to convert 18th century ale house the Anchor Inn into a private home.
The news even came as a shock to landlords Ann and Alan Wormell.
And the community was rallying round in a bid to encourage planners to refuse permission for the conversion.
