THE annual JH Variety Show took place in Bridgwater over the weekend - raising much-needed funds for the Brainwave charity.
Performers took to the stage at the town hall for the 17th JH Variety Show, showcasing a range of skills on stage.
The show was compared by Jason Freeman of Sedgemoor FM and raised more than £2,700 for Brainwave.
Next year, the groups is celebrating their 20th anniversary with a special Commemorative Variety Show on May 29 and 30.
Here is a review of the show...
"The 19th J H Variety Show started in style with the life of Burt Bacharach depicted in song and dance. Great songs such as 'Magic Moments' & 'Raindrops Keep Falling on my head' . 'What's it all about Alfie' a solo sung by Amanda Nolan received a enthusiastic applause .
The Somerset Kick Boxing Academy, led by World Champion Mark Drewitt Nation, amazed the audience with their agility and fitness.
Next to take the stage were the J H Variety Kids - some as young as six and performing for the first time - singing and dancing their way through a medley of pirate songs.
The Somerset Songbirds led by Rachael Tilling performed beautiful harmonies to seven well-known songs. Kirsty Minifee had the audience laughing with her comedy song 'When I sing in my car' .
Jema Weston led the traditional J H Variety Company's tribute to the children and therapists at the Brainwave Centre, this year through a song called 'The Prayer'. It was also signed by the company in Makaton sign language .
Megan Brunton has the audience clapping along with 'Heaven is a place on earth'.
The first half closed with the J H Variety Performers taking you 'Around the world in Red white & Blue ' a medley of songs, dance and a comedy sketch from countries with a red, white and blue flag.
Charlotte Bell & Jodie Davy performing ‘Especially for you’. Richard Porter's rendition of the American Dream from Miss Saigon was truly a excellent performance which could have been on a London Stage.
Act 2 and The J H Variety Performers took the audience through some of the best musicals that have been performed in the West End in the last 70 years.
It started with a very funny parody of five musicals, with John Hancock taking you back to 'Kansas City' from Oklahoma, Amy Sully Dodd and Jema Weston performed numbers from 'Hair', Kirsty Minifee became a wonderful narrator in Joseph and was joined by five of the J H Variety Kids.
This section closed with a very good choreographed medley of Les Mis songs.
Krazy Kev and Dino had the old and young alike entertained with a ventriloquist routine and comedy that left your sides aching from laughter.
You then had Amanda Nolan and Amy Sully Dodd performing excellent front of curtain songs from Dolly Parton and Jesse Glynn.
The J H Variety Performers then took the stage for a tribute to the group Madness. Charleigh Bunney took the lead performing 'Our House' & 'Madness just madness' and at just 18, showed confidence and beautiful vocals.
The J H Variety Performers are: John Hancock, Richard Porter, Jema Weston, Charleigh Bunney, Amanda Nolan, Kirsty Minifee, Charlotte & Laura Bell, Amy Sully Dodd, Jodie Davey, Kelly Inglis, Stef Willoughby, with cameo appearances by Angie Parsons and Kev Nolan.
The J H Variety Kids are: Olivia, Brianna, Maddie, Paige, Juno, Lilith, Lauren, Roxie, Millie, Ruby I ,Heidi, Niamh Imogen, Holly, Dylan, Sasha, Izzy, Ruby G, Bryany, Mali and Kacie.
