WORK was underway on a new Bridgwater business park this week in 1999.

The £60 million Express Park was taking shape, with work set to begin on industrial units at the site, while there were high hopes of success in securing an operator for a hotel and pub on the site - which is now Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre.

Geoffrey, of estate agents Alder King, said: "This is Bridgwater's future. This is good news for Bridgwater.

"Bridgwater Express Park has backing from the developers and the local authority, now we need the support from businesses to take it forward."

Bosses said the development would bring an economic boom to the area.
