THE organisers of eat:Burnham-on-Sea said several changes have been made to this year's event as it heads into its 14th year.

The popular food and drink festival is returning to Burnham's town centre on May 25 with more than 100 local producers and live entertainment scheduled to appear.

Bev Milner-Simonds, co-organiser of eat:Burnham, said the eat:Burnham team has made changes to the festival's layout and reduced the number of producers which they hope will make this year's event the best yet.

She said: "We have made a few changes this time, with tweaks in the layout to reduce the pinch points and three dedicated street food hubs.

"We have also reduced the number of producers - focusing on the highest quality, the widest range and ensuring there are lots of gluten free, vegan and alcohol free choices as well as some award-winning producers and new product launches.

"The biggest change is in our opening times - we are now trading 10 to 5pm to ensure we can have a safer set-up in the morning."

This year the the eat:Burnham team have invited Griffin Cycles to the festival to offer free bike check-ups and travel advice.

Anyone cycling into the festival will get a free rucksack cover and there will be a cycle park outside the Princess Theatre.

In Burnham Methodist Church the cook school will be celebrating the flavours of Italy with a hands on session making egg frittata and pesto.

The sessions will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Zara Emily's Print Workshop will be based in Burnham's Baptist Hall where you can screen print your own tote bag and there will be Punch and Judy shows, circus skills workshops, drumming sessions, DJ and a face painter outside.

Bev said eat:Burnham are continuing their campaign to be single use plastic free and are urging people to bring their own bags to the festival which will run from 10am to 5pm.

Roads will be closed from 7am to approximately 7pm and the organisers would like to thank local residents and businesses for their support and cooperation.
