BEFORE becoming a controversial star of right-wing politics, former Apprentice star Katie Hopkins wowed crowds during a visit to Bridgwater.

Hopkins was taking part in a charity networking event in the town, opening the Network Central event, which showcased more than 800 businesses at the Junction 24 conference centre.

Hundreds of guests, including figures from Bridgwater’s Chamber of Commerce, met to discuss their businesses and raise cash for charity Headway Somerset.

Staff from the Bridgwater organisation posed with Katy to raise awareness of people with brain injuries, supported by the three therapy centres run by Headway Somerset.

They wore ‘hats for Headway’ as part of Action for Brain Injury Week.

Katie told the Mercury she thoroughly enjoyed her visit.

“I was very impressed,” she said.
