FORMER Bridgwater mayor, Diogo Rodrigues, is to lead the Labour group at Sedgemoor District Council, it has been announced.
The move comes after former leader, Mick Lerry, lost his seat at last week's local elections.
Cllr Rodrigues, who was voted in as a councillor for Bridgwater Dunwear, was appointed after a poll of fellow Labour councillors.
Despite the loss of Cllr Lerry, last week's elections saw Labour increase its numbers to 12 seats on SDC, although the Conservatives retained control, despite losing seven seats.
