I WAS disappointed to read in the County Gazette that councillors are still planning to invest £16m in a hotel on the Firepool site.
This is a concern, as no clear development strategy has been agreed for the Firepool site, and a hotel may be wholly inappropriate.
I also fail to understand why the council should be investing in hotels.
I have seen no convincing business case to support the proposal, as normally the hotel chains make this assessment and investment decisions.
l can only hope that the Lib Dems feel able to revisit this decision following the local elections.
