PORLOCK Visitor Centre has recruited a number of new volunteers as Porlock gears up for another busy season.

Run by Porlock Vale Tourist Association, the centre is a community hub as well as a tourist information centre.

The new volunteers join established staff and volunteers and manager Wendy Powell at the centre, which is based in Porlock’s former school at the end of the high street.

The volunteers have been hard at work during the winter learning all things Exmoor and about the local area and now, sporting new uniforms purchased with the help of a donation from Porlock Carnival Committee, they are ready to greet the many tourists who flock to the area.

Porlock Vale Tourist Association Chairman Richard Growden said: “The tourist association has a committee that works tirelessly for the good of its members to bring together the tourists and the people of Porlock dedicated to tourism.

“The fantastic staff, volunteers and manager at the centre are a crucial part of the association and really help us promote Porlock Vale and Exmoor.”
