A HOST of Manchester United players from yesteryear are on their way to Bridgwater in July, to take part in a fundraising match with a Hinkley Point C team.

Bridgwater Town FC’s ground, Fairfax Park, will host the game on Saturday, July 27 (3pm start), which will raise funds for mental health charity Mind.

The full Manchester United Legends XI is yet to be announced, but those who have indicated their availability include Wes Brown, Keith Gillespie, Denis Irwin and Sammy McIlroy.

There is, however, no guarantee at this stage that these players will be present.

A Bridgwater Town FC statement said: “We pleased to be working closely with Constructing Excellence South West (CESW), Hinkley Point C and local entrepreneur James Tucker, to bring this match to the town in what we hope will be a hugely enjoyable afternoon that will raise thousands of pounds for a very worthwhile charity.

“We are very grateful to HPC and their entire supply chain for supporting the match and this excellent cause.

“We hope that our supporters will welcome and support this high-profile event, and help us to break our all-time attendance record set back in 1997!”

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for Under-16s, and they are available now via eventbrite.co.uk/e/hpc-xi-vs-manchester-united-legends-xi-charity-football-match-tickets-59223401789.

A team of former Manchester United players including Keith Gillespie, Chris Eagles, Danny Webber and Lee Martin recently took on Taunton Town Legends XI bringing a crowd of more than 2,000 to the Viridor Stadium for a thrilling match that finished 3-3.

Money raised from this game will go toward supporting Mind in Somerset.
