THERE are many exciting events to enjoy in Somerset as part of Naturally Healthy Month which starts next Wednesday.

The national scheme runs across May encouraging people to experience, engage and connect with natural landscapes and environments.

To celebrate the Quantocks AONB has organised a special competition to gather your artwork - this might be painting, drawing, photography, poetry or creative writing that shows the feeling you get when you spend time exploring the great outdoors.

All entries must be submitted by May 24th. These can be submitted digitally, by email to klambert@somerset.gov.uk or via post to Does Happiness Grow on Trees? Quantock Hills AONB, Fyne Court, Broomfield, Somerset TA5 2EQ.

Winning entries will be displayed some of the works at exhibitions across the county, including a finale at the Museum of Somerset in Taunton.

There will be prizes for the best school entries as well as an adult prize.

Events being put on as part of Naturally Healthy Month in the area include 'Forest Bathing at Holford Coombe where you can try out the Japanese mindfulness practice of 'Shinrin Yoku', walks across the Quantocks with the Taunton Deane Ramblers Association, a Sing and a Stroll event on the Blackdown Hills and Family Fossil Day at Kilve Beach.

There are also Baby Carrying walks, a Rocky Shore survey at Lilstock Beach near Hinkley C, a Bee Identification Day in Taunton's Longrun Meadow and much more.
