PLANS for 130 homes on land off Taunton Road on the edge of North Petherton have been given the green light.

Sedgemoor District Council's Development Committee met on Tuesday to discuss the proposals at its meeting on Tuesday, April 16 at 9.30am.

Plans for 70 homes on an adjacent site have already been given the green light and Sedgemoor District Council's planning committee approved the plans subject to a series of conditions.

The developer needs to resolve issues raised by the Environment Agency before being given full approval.

The other conditions include a Section 106 agreement for the provision of a play area and that 30 per cent of the houses are affordable.

However North Petherton Town Council is objecting to the proposals, arguing that the proposed highway access is 'inadequate', the development would be 'isolated' from the rest of North Petherton, and that local infrastructure would not be able to cope with the additional demands arising from the development. particularly in terms of school places.
