A WEATHER warning has been issued for fog as early-morning commuters face difficult conditions across Somerset.

The Met Office has issued the warning - which runs until 9am - for much of central, south and east Somerset.

The warning warns people to expect 'slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible', as well as the 'chance of delays or cancellations' for those travelling by plane.

However, forecasters said the heavy fog is due to clear as the morning progresses, with temperatures rising to around 17C.

"Any early morning fog or mist will soon clear to leave a fine and dry day, with plenty of sunshine and light winds," the Met Office said.

"Perhaps some haze lingering along the south coast into the afternoon."

This evening, it would stay dry, they said.

"Staying dry overnight, perhaps some patchy mist and low cloud forming across north-eastern parts by dawn on Thursday," the Met Office added.
