A REFRIGERATION expert from Bridgwater was preparing to 'chill out' when he retired this month in 1989.

Founder of Wessex Refrigeration Electrical Services Ltd, Clifford Hamlin, was preparing to stand down after selling his firm, which had premises in St John Street, to Quantock Electric.

The 68-year-old founded his company from his home in 1958, but eventually moved into the town premises.

He said he was happy to have sold to a reliable company.

Mr Hamlin also said he was set to enjoy his retirement, but keep busy as chair of MD branch and as a member of the Royal Engineers and Monday Club.

But one thing he was set to leave behind were his mop and bucket, which he used each day to clean in front of his landmark shop.
