TWO fixed penalty notices have been issued by Sedgemoor’s Dog Wardens on Burnham Beach; one for dog fouling with the owner not picking up and the other for having a dog in a prohibited area.
Sedgemoor District Council are reminding dog walkers that there is a year-round dog ban on Burnham-on-Sea beach between the jetty and the Pavilion.
It is an offence to take a dog onto this part of the beach at any time and the fine is £100.
Three fines were also handed out in Wembdon recently.
These were for people ignoring signage which clearly states dogs should be on leads.
Sedgemoor’s dog wardens are stepping up patrols in hot spots and will continue to undertake random patrols on beaches and will issue fixed penalty notices to anyone contravening the regulations, so walkers are encouraged to pick up the poo rather than a fine.
