A MAN needed surgery on a fractured cheekbone after being attacked in the street in the early hours.
Police have released an image of the 39-year-old victim after the assault.
He was punched to the floor by another man, who then kicked him in the face.
Officers are appealing for information about the incident in Regent Street, Weston-super-Mare on January 1, between 12.15am and 1am.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We’re keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the victim on New Year’s Eve.
"The victim was wearing black trousers/jeans with a black waist-length coat."
