A LEAN-TO containing rubbish was damaged in a Bridgwater fire.

Crews were called to Ludlow Close at around 7.10pm on Saturday evening after reports of cardboard and packaging on fire in a garden.

One fire engine from Bridgwater was mobilised to the incident.

"On arrival crews requested a further fire engine for extra personnel, this also proceeded from Bridgwater," said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman.

"This was confirmed to be a fire in the rear garden which was well alight, crews got to work extinguishing two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

The property also heavily smoke logged but all persons accounted for, he said.

The contents of the ground-floor lean-to were completely destroyed, with 'some damage' to the ground floor of the property.

No one was injured and the spokesman said the cause of the fire was accidental.
