BRIDGWATER people aiming to get fit and healthy as their new year's resolution will have no excuses as a second gym opened in the town within a matter of weeks.

Following hard on the heels of Puregym opening next to Halfords on The Clink, on Thursday evening Energie Fitness based out at the Express Park had its official launch.

The gym has had a soft opening and been running since late December, but had its official launch party complete with a DJ, balloons and nibbles as well as the ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 3.

Danielle Addicott, general manager at Energie Fitness, said she was excited to be up and running and said the feedback had been really positive.

"We have been really pleased with the take up so far," Ms Addicott said.

"And lots of people have commented on how the gym has friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

"One of our big selling points is our area called The Yard where the classes are held.

"It is a fantastic training facility and our classes are designed to be smaller with say eight to 10 people; this allows our trainers to know members personally and can tailor the classes accordingly.

"This helps build confidence."

Energie Fitness also works with MyZone technology, a belt which monitors heart rate and can work out how hard you are exercising and how many calories you are burning.

The gym has brand new equipment including a spinning zone, rowing machines, plenty of treadmills and step machines, a large free weights area.

The cardio equipment is even kitted out with apps like Netflix and Facebook, so you can carry on watching your favourite TV shows while you train.

"We also have a desk with a host who greets gym members as they come in," Danielle says.

"This again allows people to feel welcome and ask any questions they want."

Energie Fitness now has more than 100 gyms across the UK. For more information visit energiefitness.com/bridgwater.
