A MAN has been arrested after a car burst into flames following a crash.
Fire engines are at the scene near Hammet Street, near the junction with Magdalene Street, after the car caught on fire.
Police have confirmed a man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following the incident.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police were called at 4.50pm on Friday 14 December to a report of a collision in Magdalene Street, Taunton.
"A car was in collision with a motorbike resulting in a fire. The road was closed to enable police and fire crews to deal with the incident."

A spokes for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "One fire engine from Taunton was mobilised to reports of an incident.
"On arrival, crews confirmed there had been a road traffic collision involving a 4x4 and a parked motorcycle, both vehicles had caught fire and were well alight.
"A second engine was requested for additional support and breathing apparatus, this also came from Taunton.
"The vehicle fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, one main jet and a thermal imaging camera. Both vehicles were severely damaged by fire."
