A BRIDGWATER football club has apologised over a tweet which referenced lewd conduct with a schoolgirl.
On Thursday, the 'official' account of West Bower FC tweeted a poll regarding comments which referenced a relationship with a schoolgirl.
The tweet, which has since been deleted, prompted an angry reaction from one reader, who wished to remain anonymous.
"I find this absolutely disgusting and I think they should be ashamed," she said.
"They should be role models for younger males and this is the complete opposite of the behaviour I expect."
On Friday, the tweet was deleted and an apology put out from the account.
It read: "Apologies to those that was offended by yesterday’s tweet.
"In hindsight it wasn’t funny and was in poor taste.
"Onwards and upwards as a club we hope to learn from our mistakes."
Elsewhere on the feed are updates from a 'West Bower men's' trip to Edinburgh.
One tweet reads: "The West Bower men are thoroughly enjoying Edinburgh! Drinking games are flowing left right and Chelsea..."
Another features a video of a bloodied person, with the tweet: "Day 1 round up - 9am beers, Lee insisted on roasting everyone, dayle got love tapped by a bottle, wink wink murder. got in at 7."
