IT was a historic but happy day for new mum Carolyne and baby Kai this week in 1988 - for the new arrival was the last to be born at Bridgwater's Mary Stanley Maternity Nursing Home.
The home was closing after 68 years amid cuts to NHS funding, with deliveries being moved to the Mary Stanley Wing at the hospital.
