CHRISTMAS shoppers in Sedgemoor will be making a saving after it emerged council-run car parks will be free on the two Saturdays running up to the big day.
People will be able to park without charge in all 18 council-owned car parks across the district, including in Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea, on Saturday December 15 and Saturday December 22.
The move is aimed at boosting trade in the district as people look to make their Christmas purchases.
Duncan McGinty, leader of Sedgemoor District Council, said “We are keen to support our many local and varied traders in the towns and villages across Sedgemoor and give residents and visitors an added incentive to shop locally in the festive season."
There will be notices on the tariff machines in the car parks advising of the free parking.
Sedgemoor District Councils owns and operates 18 car parks across the district with a total of 1,691 parking spaces.
