TRIBUTE: The County Gazette ran a WWI special centenary edition last month
MY grandad died in the First World Way on August 17 1916 aged 29.
My gran received a memorial card from an officer with these lovely words which I thought were appropriate to share in this year’s Armistice Centenary.
"Thank you to all those who gave their lives.
A sudden change at God’s command he fell.
He had no chance to bid his friends farewell.
Affliction came without warning given and bid him haste to meet his god in heaven."
