MOTORISTS in the Bridgwater area have been facing a series of delays over the past three days as huge heavy loads were transported to the Hinkley C site in West Somerset.
Specialist officers from the Avon and Somerset Police Roads Policing Team worked with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, Western Power Distribution, Somerset Highways and specialist hauliers to move the giant pieces of machinery.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We'd like to say a big thank you to local residents and people on the road for their patience while eleven loads were transported to the Hinkley Point site over three days.
"We appreciate the disruption this causes so thanks to our communities for their understanding."
