THE third person killed in a devastating two-car crash is believed to be a man in his 20s from Taunton.

Police are continuing their investigations into the collision on the A358 near Ashill.

Lynda Greening, 70, and her husband, Gerald Greening, 79, of Cullompton, died after their black Citroen C3 was in collision with a yellow Vauxhall Tigra.

The passenger in the Tigra was also pronounced dead at the scene following the incident on Sunday, November 11, at 12.12am.

The driver of the Tigra was taken to hospital in Bristol in a critical condition, although police say he is now "stable".

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "Both occupants of the Citroen and the passenger from the Tigra were pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has yet to take place.

"However, the family of Lynda Greening, 70 and Gerald Greening, 79, of Cullompton, have been informed.

"The passenger from the Tigra is believed to be a man in his 20s from Taunton and his family have been contacted.

"The driver’s next of kin are aware. He was taken to Southmead Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

"Officers are grateful to a number of witnesses who have come forward with information following the collision."

The County Gazette reported last week that Mr Greening was a vice president of Cullompton Rugby Club.

A club member posted on Facebook: "RIP - Gerald & Lynda Greening.

"It is with great sadness that the club have to inform members that Gerald Greening, a Vice President at the club, and his wife Lynda tragically lost their lives on Sunday 11th November in a car accident.

"Once we have details of the funeral arrangements we will let members know.

"Everyone at Cullompton Rugby Club send their sincere condolences to the family at this very sad time."
