THE ticket sale ordeal is over, you're recovering nicely and you've got your golden ticket in your hand - well, you've got a confirmation email in your inbox which you keep looking at just to make sure it is real...

You're heading to Glastonbury.

Now, as the countdown just seems too long for words, you can turn to speculating as to who is going to grace the boards at Worthy Farm next summer.

And I'm here to fill you with hope, doom, joy and disappointment with unfulfilled promises of who could, should and will play.

Here are a few rumours - and whether I think they will be at Glastonbury next summer...

Pink

The American star has announced a string of UK shows next summer as part of her Beautiful Trauma tour and guess what? There's a wonderfully Glasto-shaped hole in her schedule. June 28 to be precise. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Pink will be there.

Chance of playing: 90%

Bridgwater Mercury: Pink, MetroRadio Arena, Newcastle

The Cure

Much as above, the goth icons are on the road throughout the summer of next year and you've guessed it, they have a nice little 'break' pencilled in around the end of June.

They play Belgium's Roch Werchter on June 29, but have no shows listed for June 28 or 30, so I would expect them to turn up atop the Other Stage line-up on one of those days.

Chance of playing: 95%

Paul McCartney

I think every mum's (and ageing editor's) favourite Beatle is a given to top the Pyramid Stage bill this year, I'd tip the Saturday, possibly Sunday. And I did say the Arctic Monkeys were a given for Reading last year - and that didn't happen.

Chance of playing: 99%

Bridgwater Mercury: Paul McCartney

Pearl Jam

An interesting possibility and one I would LOVE to see come to fruition.

The Seattle legends are rumoured to be announcing a number of festival dates for next summer, including Rock in Rio (with Muse - another Glasto possible), as well as a show in Ireland - where The Cure are also set to play.

If this comes off, I predict an absolutely iconic set - see Reading 2006/Seattle Home Shows 2018 for evidence of just how remarkable it could be.

Chance of playing: 65%

Arctic Monkeys

The boys are back with a new album and headlined Glastonbury last in 2013. It could be a touch soon for a return, but it has never stopped Coldplay, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them on the bill.

Chance of playing: 50%

Bridgwater Mercury: Arctic Monkeys

Kylie Minogue

The pint-sized Queen of Pop (can I get any more adjectives in there?) is widely tipped for the Sunday afternoon 'legends' slot, but I could just as easily see her as headliner - as she was set to be in the past.

She is really keen to do it, it seems, and it would be nice to see.

Chance of playing: 80%

Bridgwater Mercury: Kylie Minogue, Aphrodite (Parlophone) ****; Marc Almond, Variete (Cherry Red Records) *****

That's it for now - there are more rumours out there, and I will return soon with any more tips.
