RAIN failed to dampen spirits at this year Petherton Plod run - and even provided the backdrop for a marriage proposal.
As the runners warmed up in the soggy conditions, their hearts would have been warmed at least as Unique Fitness manager Simon Olliver proposed to his girlfriend Gemma.
It was a lovely opening and meant smiles aplenty even as the runners waded through large puddles as they set off on their 5k route.
The runners took some splendid scenery in the countryside around Bridgwater as well as running along a section of the canal.
This was the sixth edition of the popular Petherton Plod which saw entries from the Bridgwater Ladies Running Club, Sedgemoor Striders and Quantock Harriers among others.
